Another character from the tablecloth seems to show a woman at the edge of a stream.
Tribute to the three Raj brothers G D Paulraj, G D Arulraj and G D Thyagaraj and some of my experiences when I lived in India.
Admirer of Paul Raj Paintings
- Gold Finch
- Paul was born in Kodaikanal on 22 September 1914 and died on 2 October 1979. G D Arulraj was born in 1925 and died in June 1972 while visiting India. Arul worked at Laguna Beach in the 60's and 1970's. G D Thyagaraj might have been born in 1922 and I am told that he probably died sometime before 1981. He moved to northern India as a young man. I lived in India as a child and spent a lot of time in Calcutta. My mother purchased several paintings directly from Paul Raj while living in Madras and this got me interested in his works. I then discovered he had two brothers Arul Raj and Thyaga Raj who were both fantastic artists. I could not find much information on the internet so decided to set up my own blog. Subsequently a Facebook tribute site has also been created to the memory of the three brothers. Contact me at: rajbrothers@hotmail.co.uk

G D Paulraj - Delhi Street Scene
I tracked this painting on Ebay for a few months and it was not selling. The vendor was slowly reducing the price and when it came down to what I thought was a realistic price I made him and offer, which he accepted. The painting is by G D Paulraj and depicts a Delhi Street Scene.
It included a frame but was shipped from California without the glass in case it broke in transit. I did have to pay a small amount of UK tax on arrival not just on the purchase price of $160 but also the potage costs of $55, this seemed a bit unfair of the UK tax authorities. I decided to replace the mount and add new non-relective glass and it looks very presentable now. Finally I gave it to my sister at the end of April 2011 as a birthday present. The painting has faded as when I removed the old mount you could see the stronger blue of the sky under the edge of the mount where it had not faded. Hope you like this one. This was framed by a firm called the 'Paris Picture House' at 30 Ewing Road Chowk, Nila Gumbad, Lahore.

I am back - G D Arulraj - Violet Sunset
Just returned home after five weeks away looking after my daughter who has been in hospital in London. Came across this while I was away it was for sale on Ebay in the USA, I do not think it sold for the asking price so it might be re-listed in due course.
It is by G D Arulraj and is one of his many sunset or is it sunrise paintings, this being a violet version rather than the common turquoise.
