G D Paulraj - Notebook 4

Another page from Paul's notebooks, this one dates from April 1958 for are priced at Rs 150/- and painting number 3) at Rs 175/-.  The were all sent to a company address in Calcutta.

The paintings are titled :

1) Homeward bound;

2) Transplanting - Malabar;

3) Backwaters - Through the palms;

4) Vegetable market Malabar;

5) Boats in Trivandram.

G D Thyagaraj - Boats

This is painting that has been emailed to me by Kashinath one of many he has come across on his travels around India.  It is by G D Thyagaraj of a pair of boats.

It is quite  dark painting so I am unsure whether it is early evening or whether a storm is brewing?  Hope you like it.

I found this painting by G D Thyagaraj sold at an auction in the UK, unfortunately it is only a low quality image so it is hard to tell how good a painting it might be.

Still an interesting painting, the boatman in the foreground looks like he might be about to fall over the side of the boat.

G D Arul Raj - Photograph of the Artist

I have come across a photograph of the G D Arul Raj himself I think it was taken in the USA at Laguna Beach in Los Angeles.

Also a painting of some sailing boats by Arul which I tried to purchase from Ebay a while ago but something went wrong with the transaction it is now for sail at a very high price of $3,900 in the USA. Ebay item number 3801 3440 9080 (December 2009) in case any one wants to but it.
