I purchased this Paul Raj from an auction house in the UK after the auction had finished. I did not hear about it until it was over and then I found out that the painting had not sold. I made the owner an offer which he accepted and got the painting posted to me.
It is quite a dark painting but it has one of his favourite subjects with cattle being in this picture as well as the title. The painting only cost Rs85/- when it was first sold, I wonder when this was? The address is Diamond Cottage, in Kodaikanal so I suspect it a fairly early one.
This is the original inscription that was on the rear of the damaged mount, I have kept it and attached it to the back of the reframed painting
