Today I am adding a GD Paulraj painting that has come up for sale on Ebay with the sellers permission (iconsign4cash). It is a very nice watercolour and has been very well framed maybe in 1975. There appears to be a date on the framers label on the reverse of the painting. Might indicate when it was last framed could be when it was purchased?
I think this is a nice painting which is very realistically priced under the Buy-it-now arrangement for $399.00 US dollars which is around £243.53. The item is for sale in Maryland which I think is on the East Coast of the USA and the item number is 190521178516.
The label shows it was framed in New Delhi and I am aware that Paul did many scenes in and around Delhi, the date is 11-XII-75.
A second photo showing the frame, thank you to 'iconsign4cash' for letting me add this painting to the blog.
Tribute to the three Raj brothers G D Paulraj, G D Arulraj and G D Thyagaraj and some of my experiences when I lived in India.
Admirer of Paul Raj Paintings
- Gold Finch
- Paul was born in Kodaikanal on 22 September 1914 and died on 2 October 1979. G D Arulraj was born in 1925 and died in June 1972 while visiting India. Arul worked at Laguna Beach in the 60's and 1970's. G D Thyagaraj might have been born in 1922 and I am told that he probably died sometime before 1981. He moved to northern India as a young man. I lived in India as a child and spent a lot of time in Calcutta. My mother purchased several paintings directly from Paul Raj while living in Madras and this got me interested in his works. I then discovered he had two brothers Arul Raj and Thyaga Raj who were both fantastic artists. I could not find much information on the internet so decided to set up my own blog. Subsequently a Facebook tribute site has also been created to the memory of the three brothers. Contact me at: rajbrothers@hotmail.co.uk

Hi -- I also got hold of this piece (along with Ploughing). Raj's works have unmistakable quality and character.
ReplyDeleteDo you have a better photo for this painting as it seems very yellow in colour?
